From
time to time there have been instances where Jamaicans overseas
have expressed concern regarding the quality of service, trading
practices and unprofessional conduct displayed in some private and
public sectors enterprises. Apart from the fact that the Government
has issued a Citizens Charter establishing the rights of the nation's
citizenry to best business practices in all public entities and
has mandated reform in public sector management, a number of regulatory
and consumer protection organizations equipped with the mechanism
necessary to investigate complaints brought by clients do exist.
Organizations with regulatory responsibility in key areas such as
real estate, public utilities, legal practice, birth/marriage/death
registration, and consumer affairs are included in the Information
Pack Directory.
